Who loves vacation? What kind of places do you like to visit? Are you a nature person, beach person? Loner or people lover?
Large Group Vacation
I am fortunate to have several really close friends. We have been talking about a friends vacation for the past 7 years. Final last year we booked one. What first started off as three families and a total of 13 people grew to a group of six families and 22 people.
You heard me right 22 people 10 adults and 12 children ages 5 to 15. &seven days and one house. 😳 What were we thinking? The closer the vacation came the more nervous and anxious I became. We can’t do this? We aren’t going to last a week! We will hate each other at the end of it.
Have you ever vacationed with a large group of people? How did it turn out? Was it with friends or family? Did anyone leave early or stop talking after the trip?
Vacation day is here
So the big day came, I had actually found a rebound house just in case we needed to leave. We went to a beach approximately 9 hours from our house.
First and Last Nights
Okay the biggest take away from this trip is, if you are planning to vacation with a large group the night you arrive and the night before you leave emotions run high.
Arrival Night
Keep in mind people may have had a long drive🙋🏻♀️. Probably did not eat the best, you are tired, hangers, concerned what you are walking into and how things will work out. Especially if you have never vacationed with these people before or in a large group.
Our first night was just that. Everyone was irritable and cranky. There was a fight over who got which room, when to go to the store, who would/would not be cooking. I thought for sure by the end of the week someone would be voted off the island. LOL
Throughout the Week
The rest of the week went much better. The weather was beautiful, all of the children got along. Spend lots of time lounging at the beach enjoying the sun and sound of the waves.
The wedding
While their one of the families that came with us decided to get married. They planned this shortly after the vacation was planned. The have been together for almost 20 years and have a 14 year old son together. My husband became ordained and performed their ceremony. It was lovely.
The last night
So after a long lovely week with the exception of the first night. We all enjoyed our trip. The kids went go kart driving, mini golfing and to the aquarium. Some went fishing and several caught sharks. One was right off the pier 😳. I didn’t want to go back in the water after that one. 🦈 🌊 It all boiled down to the last night.
People must have been dreading returning to reality, I was. A long drive awaited us in the morning. Everyone packing, searching for lost items and trying to ensure nothing was left behind. This made tensions and stress run high and we had a few folks have excited conversations. One family left the night before and no one rode home together. It was every man for themselves. LOL
In all seriousness it was a great cation and we will have a lot for amazing memories. I am glad we had this experience. Our group of friends is strong and we are very blessed. The week went much better than expected.
